WHO AM I?

Oi, aqui é Iman! Alright let's get back to our topic here. My name is Nur Iman Batrisyia Binti Zabri @ Mohd Zabri. I was born on 1st November in Kuantan, Pahang. Yes, i'm a Scorpio which I kinda like as it perfectly represents me. My home is located in Kerteh, Terengganu and filled with my loving family which consists of both my parents and four siblings. I am the youngest (and the one who gets all the love of course :3) . After a while of pursuing my studies in TESL field, i have my own aim which is to get my degree and master in Education for TESL as I really want to be a lecturer. Throughout my whole life, though it's cliché, I still will say that I never had the real ambition of what I am going to be in the future. However now, it is clear that TESL is the most suitable for a girl like me.

I am really into music lately and have always been. Planning on furthering my degree in TESL with Music as the minor subject and we'll see if life goes like planned. During high school, I like to join activities or competitions that involved music such as brass band and gamelan. I played trumpet for three years and I stopped joining brass band as I started to wear braces, thus it became hard for me to play my instrument. For gamelan, I was the leader of the group as my instrument in gamelan is the main instrument in gamelan. It is called as Bonang in Jawa and Kromong in Malay. I played gamelan for five years and it stays deep in my heart.  Well, for the future I have the aim to be good in drumming and playing piano. Let's hope my dream won't fade away.

FAMILY

Here goes my siblings. The oldest is 26 years old and is going to be a teacher soon. She pursued her studies in Education for Special Children in USM Pulau Pinang. A hardworking girl for sure and is good in everything. The second one is my sister sitting on my left, which is 24 this year. She graduated with a Masscom degree in KUIS Selangor. This one here is really annoying however, she can be the one who listens to all of your talk and make sure you are okay after every cry. Both of my sisters are the ones who really take care of my family after my parents. They know their responsibilities really well and understand how to keep their family close to their hearts. My brother is the third one out of four and is the only male sibling in my family. Mama's favourite for sure. He is 21 years old and right now is on his degree in UTM Johor. He never thinks twice of spending his money for his family. A habit of him is whenever my mother asks him to buy groceries, he would pay for it. And they have me as the youngest. Iman, whom is known as the troublemaker yet the most quiet in the family. I don't share my secrets with my family but they know me well when I'm in a good state or vice versa and I am really glad that they never push me to tell things that I don't want to tell. Well, after all until the end of life, you would only have your family by your side.

As you can see, this is my parents, been married for nearly 30 years already. Both of them are 50 this year and still look really good together. A sad story behind this post, I was having a really bad homesick when I looked for this picture in my gallery as I was staying in Dengkil when the CMCO is happening in Selangor. I am not a type of person who easily misses people and gets sad over it. I have always been a girl who would escape from her home to be with friends. However, this time, it hits differently knowing that you will never know the possibility of you going home. That's the end of this story.

My father is the one who is working right now to support our family. He used to be the one who took care of my siblings and I, as my mother worked at an airport once ago. My father carried all of the responsibilities of what a mother usually has to do. He did a really good job in taking care of us as all of us grow up being successful in anything we are doing. Without a doubt, I will say he is good in everything he does, from being a teacher for our Mathematics subject, to a father who feeds us with his cookings.

When it comes to my mother, I am really inspired with how successful a woman can be. She was a radio operator for helicopter in a company called as MHS Aviation Bhd. Unfortunately, few years back, Petronas decided to end the contract with the company, pushing the company to end its operation and of course, my mother too was affected by it when the company put a stop to all of the employees. We were really worried as my mother was the only one who supports my family at that time, and that was the point where my father decided to find jobs in order for us to survive. It was hard, but as a family, you would eventually find a way to solve any problems.

INSPIRATION

Inspiration is normal for every person to have and that includes me. It was actually not easy for me to choose what field of study that suits me the best. I was a Pure Science student and I liked Science subjects better than language in high school. However, my SPM results show the opposite. I did my English better than any other subjects and that was when I know what is the best for me, for my future.

The one who inspires me more to take TESL in university is one of my English Language teachers. We called her Miss Eti and you can try to find her in the picture. She taught me when I was in Form Three and she was the one who introduced me to the fun side of English. My journey of studying this subject during upper form was not really that great as there were a lot of pressure in getting an A+ for it. I had no time of having fun while learning but Miss Eti was there to keep reminding me that I can do it as my capability in English is greater than I thought. She was right. Now, here I am on the right track of life, choosing TESL as a part of my life.
